Guessing game for the 'New iPhone' name begins as rumors fly thick and fast that Apple is on track to launch the 'New iPhone' on Sept. 12.

TechCrunch claims that a device named 'iPhone 5,2' appeared to have accessed one of the servers. The screenshot, sent by a "reliable source", shows an iPhone 5 prototype appeared on the server logs. The screenshot suggests that Apple is possibly testing a working device. The screenshot is given below.

Moreover, according to the source, Apple is testing not one but two models in tandem. The tipster captured a screen grab of a server log, which listed two models called "iPhone5,2" and "iPhone5,1". The source did not disclose any other information.

Could "iPhone5,2" be the name of the new iPhone? A code name assigned to the device by Apple? However, it has not been confirmed if Apple had a role to play in this testing.

The iPhone 4S was the fifth iteration of the Apple smartphone. The eagerly-awaited iPhone 5 will be the sixth in the series. Will Apple stick with convention and name the fabled next-gen device iPhone 5 or will it be a new name?

Rumors hint that the new iPhone will sport a 4-inch display screen in contrast to the 3.5-inch display screen of its predecessors. Rumors also suggest that the new iPhone may have a smaller 19-pin or an 8-pin connector as opposed to the 30-pin connector in the previous models. Furthermore, some leaks suggest that Apple may introduce a new style of port to avoid use of third-party accessories.

Users will have to wait until Sept. 12 to discover if Apple announces the next-generation iPhone. The iPhone 4 had an improved design compared to the iPhone 3 and iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 4S presented Siri to the users, giving consumers the option to use the device even with both hands occupied. Whatever the name be of the next-gen iPhone, the consumers will expect an enhanced iPhone either in design or features, or perhaps both.
