Blizzard marked the Year of the Rooster with a special event for shooter game "Overwatch," dubbed as Capture the Rooster. The "Overwatch" event sports new costumes, items and maps plus limited-time only goodies.

Capture the Rooster started on Tuesday and will run until Feb. 13, 2017, for a total of 3 weeks event run-time. "Overwatch" timed the event schedule to coincide with the Chinese New Year, which happens to be on Jan. 28, 2017.

The Capture the Rooster event is the fourth in the "Overwatch" seasonal events, the previous one being the Christmas event, preceded by the Halloween and Summer Games-themed event during the height of the Rio Olympics.

The new "Overwatch" event is basically the same gameplay as that of Capture the Flag. The only notable difference is the setting which is in China's Lijiang City. Players need to engage in combat in order to capture a flag that is adorned with a rooster emblem, IBTimes reported.

It is unclear if there is going to be a new objective for "Overwatch" Capture the Rooster. However, there are hints that mechanics include a race to capture the flag by fighting opposing teams. These flags are set midway in the map or in neutral zones, Polygon said.

Based on the Capture the Rooster trailer, it appears that all 23 "Overwatch" heroes are going to have their respective gears and costumes. There will be traditional Chinese fireworks as well. The same trailer shows Ana, Bastion, Junkrat, Mei and Sombra culminating their victory poses with corresponding fireworks.

Players should note however that "Overwatch" loots from each campaign- like items and skins- are available for a limited time only. Meaning, players are going to lose them and items can't be used after the event ends. At any rate, it is still a nice and exciting new twist for "Overwatch" fanatics.
