Route 59's upcoming visual novel "Necrobarista" features an eclectic mix of characters. What other game features "hipsters, gangsters, and necromancers" at a cafe?

According to Siliconera, "'Necrobarista," which is slated for an October 2017 release for PC and Mac, is set in a "supernatural cafe" were both the living and the undead can have drinks with each other. While details about Route 59's game are sparse, it has been confirmed that the unique café is located in a fictional version of Melbourne, Australia.

The "Necrobarista" trailer showed off some of the game's cast such as "gangsters with odd heads, a rude necromancer," and the protagonist of the visual novel. The video also showed off the PC game's "striking art style," lovingly-rendered 3D models, and game environment.

Greenlight Games has also revealed that Route 59's headquarters is also located in Melbourne, Australia. The "indie developer team" is "focused on making visual novels," and the upcoming "Necrobarista" is their "first big project."

Details about the game were also revealed, such as the café serving both coffee and alcohol. The café is also "frequented by both the living and the dead." Route 59's visual novel is "also a 3D game in a 3D world, which is different than most visual novels."

The Route 59 team shared that they were inspired by many things and that they are developing the game in 3D because they wish to create "experimental narrative games," citing examples such as "Gone Home" and "To the Moon."

Based on information from the official Route 59 website, the indie dev team is "an award-winning games studio" that works on "cinematic visual novels for a global audience." The team started in 2015 as a student project, and they first worked on "Project Ven," an "experimental narrative game." Route 59 announced "Necrobarista," the team's first commercial game, at the Visual Conference on January 14, 2017.
