Square Enix first released the role-playing game (RPG) "Final Fantasy XII" for the PlayStation 2 in 2006, and a Japan-exclusive version called "Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System" was released in 2007. Now, reports circulating on the internet have revealed that a new gameplay trailer for the PlayStation 4 exclusive "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" was released last week.
On January 21, 2017, a video featuring gameplay for "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" was shown via a stage event at the Taipei Game Show. Shinji Hashimoto, "Final Fantasy's" Brand Manager, introduced the video and Hiroaki Kato, the game's producer, played the game live in front of the audience.
The video shown at the event featured game exploration, combat, the Gambit menu, and the L1-triggered Turbo feature which lets characters run faster on-screen. The gameplay video also showed a boss battle.
The upcoming game "'Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" will feature "backgrounds, character models and even cutscenes, and fonts" that are "overhauled in high resolution to match the current generation." The RPG's audio will be 7.1 surround sound compatible, and the re-release of the twelfth main "Final Fantasy" title will have "higher quality voice acting."
Gamers who purchase the title can choose between either the Japanese and English voices for the game. "'Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age's" soundtrack is also available in either the "original" or "re-recorded" versions.
Players will no longer have to wait for long loading times as they will be reduced in the re-release. The upcoming RPG will also have an auto-save feature, along with an improved Turbo mode.
According to a previous blog entry from the U.S. PlayStation blog, gamers can also experiment with Trial Mode and The Zodiac Job System. When the game is released North American fans will finally be able to experience "a new character growth system," "other improvements to the game's interface," and other features and updates. The PS4 version of "Final Fantasy XII" will also have "PlayStation 4 Trophy support and Share functionality, auto-save, shortened loading times, overlaid location map and more."
