UK video game retailers GAME and Gamestation have unveiled a "perks" programme for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 pre-orders. Basically, paying a £10 deposit gets the in-game and real life perks.
GAME announced that the first wave of perks includes a Quadrotor drone avatar prop for Xbox 360 players, or a Quadrotor theme for players on PlayStation 3, along with entry into the Black Ops 2 Perks Program sweepstake. People who pre-order have the chance to be flown out to Gamescom, the gaming event running from August 18 to August 19. Entry to the sweepstake closes August 5.
The physical bonuses include a Nuketown 2025 map, if a £10 deposit is placed. GAME said additional perks are to be announced and players who pre-order sooner will get the to-be-announced pre-order bonuses. Nuketown 2025 is an exclusive map included with pre-orders of the shooter, but there's a probability it will release as DLC in the future given the popularity of the map.
People who have already pre-ordered the title can place a £5 deposit to get the aforementioned perks. Pre-orders made online have been automatically upgraded. Users who don't have the Reward Card linked can order it for free, or link it, to get the perks.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is probably going to be the best selling Call of Duty release ever, again. However Treyarch, the developers, seem to be attempting to move the title forward: there's a new setting, 2025, playing as the son of Alex Mason, from the original Black Ops; there's choice in the campaign, along with mini-RTS sections; and there's a new graphics engine, so the Quake 3 underbelly shouldn't look as dated (especially in comparison to titles like as Halo 4).
GAME is promising additional perks, so it'll be interesting to see what's offered. Maybe there will be early access to weapons and weapon skins, or in-game perks to fit in with the promotion, similar to Halo 4's various pre-order bonuses.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 launches November 13 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The battle between Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 is going to be very interesting this November.
