While Samsung created the Gear VR so it didn't have to rely on a separate controller, it does get tiring for that one arm doing all the work on the touch panel on the side of the headset. This is why some gamers end up having to play with a controller, and that's okay. In fact, there's a good amount of games you can play on the Gear VR using a controller, like "Minecraft." Here are some of them you might want to get soon.
"Wands"
"Wands" is one of those games that become more complicated with the touch panel. However, a controller in hand gives the player an advantage over the other spell-casters. Choose the best spells and dive into the dueling are to battle the best mages to the death!
"Bandit Six: Salvo"
Climax Studios' "Bandit Six: Salvo" has garnered amazing feedback over at Reddit, even though you don't actually need a controller to play it. However, a finger on a physical trigger is a lot more comfortable than fiddling the side of your headset, isn't it? The controller may not feel like an airplane flight stick, but it certainly is better than holding nothing.
"Minecraft"
The original mouse and keyboard game has some of the weirdest graphics ever, but anyone who has played "Minecraft" knows that this game has always been deeply satisfying. Gamers won't be able to play this game on the Samsung Gear VR sans the controller for obvious reasons. The touch pad would make things more confusing.
"Herobound Gladiators"
Escalation Studios describes "Herobound Gladiator" as a "full VR social RPG experience." There's a whole lot of truth to that, since the game's multiplayer is just fantastic. With a controller in hand, playing this game on the Gear VR feels like the player has his own private video game booth.
