Sam Heughan immediately became a household name following his role in "Outlander" as Jamie Fraser. Since then, the 36-year-old Scottish actor has been a favorite among fans and many are hoping to see him do more roles in other shows.

Several fans expressed their hopes to see Heughan play as the new James Bond, as there were rumors that Daniel Craig may soon vacate the role. However, a recent tweet suggests that Heughan was all up for playing a role in the BBC drama, "Doctor Who."

Many fans were thrilled when Heughan expressed his interest in appearing in "Doctor Who" in-between his role in "Outlander" Season 3. Since the actor gets a few months off from the Starz drama, Heughan would have enough time to appear in an episode or two in the BBC series.

"Outlander" Season 3 is expected to resume production soon, as the cast and crew took a short break from filming during the holidays. As Carter Matt reports, the show is expected to premiere this spring.

During this time, "Outlander" Season 3 will be competing with other shows such as "The Walking Dead," "The Leftovers" or "Madam Secretary" if it premieres in April. If the Starz drama airs a little later than usual, however, as filming is expected to end in May, the show may compete against "Game of Thrones."
