Intel's highly-anticipated Kaby Lake chipsets were finally unveiled at the recently concluded Las Vegas event with an array of different models that are likely to release in near future. Meanwhile, multiple sources are reporting about a potentially better Apple MacBook Pro and/or the iMac 2017 following the recent unveiling of the much-lauded chipsets.

The long-rumored update to the Apple's iMac has been subject to a slew of speculations surrounding the device's release date, specs, price and other details. Regrettably, the Cupertino-based company did not even mention the all-in-one desktop computer during the iPhone 7 launch event last year.

It left many iMac fans who were hoping for 2016 release for the device downhearted. The rumor mill continues running full force even this year, churning all sorts of speculations that suggest the release of iMac 2017 is just around the corner.

Mounting shreds of evidence indicate that Apple is indeed hard at work on a desktop upgrade. The company's chief executive Tim Cook finally confirmed that the company has some great desktops in its roadmap during a Q&A session on the company's internal employee network, via MacWorld. Cook noted that desktop is quite important for the company not only because it is unparalleled but also because it packs a lot more performance.

In terms of specs and features, Cook noted that the exciting line of the desktop that is still under wraps could boast the largest screens coupled with most memory and storage. Aside from that, it will have a better range of I/O and will deliver faster performance as compared to any other desktop.

Complimenting the current generation iMac which is equipped with the gorgeous Retina 5K display, Cook said it is the best desktop. He also debunked speculations about Apple's plan to get rid of their desktop line noting that the company is committed to desktops. However, there's hearsay that though Apple may continue developing desktops, the tech giant could oust the iconic Mac branding.

Another report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests that the iMac branding is not getting the attention it once did. In his report, Gurman noted that Apple has recognized its software engineering department.

In other words, the tech giant has ousted the dedicated team that worked on macOS; engineers work on both iOS and macOS. Despite multiple reports about the fading Mac brand running rampant all over the internet, it continues to churn out cash cows for the tech giant.

Under the hood, Apple's upcoming iMac could come with graphics chips from AMD's Polaris set, that were announced last year. The Polaris chips are said to offer enhanced graphics performance as compared to previous generations along with potential reductions in power consumption, as well as the waste head.

Moreover, these chips will also bring VR (virtual reality) within the reach of the PC users. More details about Apple iMac 2017 are likely to surface in near future.
