T-Mobile has just confirmed on Tuesday, July 17, that the 5.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 'phablet' (smartphone/tablet) will be joining its network in the coming weeks. The carrier confirmed this with a post on Twitter at first, followed by a full statement and press release. There are not many details to go on, but those hoping for an upgraded processor can rule that out now.

Many expected T-Mobile to release the Galaxy Note 'phablet' with the upgraded 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 processor that powers the Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X. Unfortunately, this is not the case. T-Mobile will offer the handset with the same 1.5GHz Qualcomm S3 dual-core processor, just like the AT&T model.

ICS, Premium Suite & T-Mobile 4G Pro App Pack

The good news is, however, that T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, as well as the Premium Suite, which features the brand new S-Pen features and the S Note app with enhanced productivity features that came with the recent update to ICS. Moreover, to make up for its late arrival in the game, T-Mobile is also offering what it calls the "T-Mobile 4G Pro App Pack," which contains Dropbox, Evernote, Square, TripIt, CamScanner, and LinkedIn.

T-Mobile has not given an official release date yet, and the press release only reads "available in the coming weeks." Some reports pointed to Aug. 8 as the launch date, but nothing is official for now. There is also no price tag yet for the hybrid phone/tablet that is coming to T-Mobile after launching with AT&T earlier this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Note builds on the success of the Samsung Galaxy S2 series, and also boasts a thin profile, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The 'phablet' will run on T-Mobile's HSPA+42 4G network.

Meanwhile, several other rumors indicate that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will launch in the late summer or in the fall, roughly one year after the IFA conference where the Galaxy Note first debuted. T-Mobile is getting the first Galaxy Note for now, and AT&T will likely be the carrier to get the rumored Galaxy Note 2 when it finally arrives.
