Contrary to popular belief, PlayStation Vita is not dead. Sony's handheld still lives and is getting a lot of love from publishers and developers this year. So don't think on giving up on the Vita despite cancellation reports of some games, especially if you are keen on Japanese games and RPGs. Brighter things await owners of Sony's red-headed stepchild, starting with Koei Tecmo's "Berserk."
"Berserk and the Band of the Hawk"
Known as "Berserk Misou" in Japan, the game was previously set for a fall 2016 release, but Koei Tecmo pushed the release date to 2017, PlayStation Lifestyle reported. After the long wait, "Berserk and the Band of the Hawk" will finally make its way on PS Vita, PS4, PS3 and PC on Feb. 21 in North America and Feb. 24 in Europe.
"Mary Skelter: Nightmares"
Siliconera reported in November 2016 that "Godly Prison Tower: Mary Skelter" will have a Western release as "Mary Skelter: Nightmares." Slated for a vague Summer 2017 launch, the Compile Heart-developed PS Vita dungeon crawler amasses mysteries waiting to be solved.
"Valkyria Revolution"
The formerly known "Valkyria Azure Revolution" is set to make landfall on the shores of American and Europe in Spring 2017 for PS4 and PS Vita. "Valkyria Revolution" is entirely different from "Valkyria Chronicles," so expect a poles apart kind of gameplay. As SEGA Rep John Hardin puts it, "We changed errrrrything. (Well, almost everything. Valkyrias are in it still, so is ragnite.) It's still a story about the human side of war!"
"Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy"
NIS America is bringing "Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy," the sequel to "Operation Abyss" New Tokyo Legacy", digitally and physically to PS Vita and PC. The game will release in North America and Europe in Spring 2017, and it comes with English subtitles!
There's a pretty good chance we've missed the game you were rooting for, so leave a note in the comments section below. What PS Vita game are you waiting on for this year?
