It is official, folks- the Pokemon Go New Year event has come to an end. However, there are other great things to look forward to, including new Generation 2 Pokemon and inclusion of legendary Pokemons! Niantic has already started teasing fans with the next major update in the game which may contain rare Gen 2 or even Legendary Pokemon!

A new mail has been sent out by Niantic and it teases the next big Pokemon update which may bring a lot of things with it. It reads: "That's all for now. Look for another update from us in a few weeks. You may even get a special message from Professor Willow. Remember to be alert at all times when playing Pokemon Go."

What could the reference to Professor Willow possibly mean? It could indicate that new Pokemon may be released by the end of this month. This indication is certainly possible through this major reference.

Certain speculations also suggest that the new Pokemon creatures will be released in clusters, unlike the previous ways. Such cluster releases will be deemed to be mini-events in themselves and Niantic will consider them to be that way. Of course, this has led to several reactions in itself with certain users trying to reason this move on the behalf of the company.

"I think Niantic's reasoning for doing this would be: Many players (not the kind who spend time speculating about the game on Reddit) stopped playing once they filled up their Pokedex, or gave up once they understood that they were unlikely to ever get the one or two they were missing without a big increase in effort/patience on their part, " said one user. "With 6-10 new Pokemon a month to acquire, having a full dex becomes temporary-at-best. There are always new, acquire-able Pokemon to catch."

Given that the new Pokemon updates have been quite regular and frequent in themselves, the fans and players are expecting a new patch as soon as this week itself. Since patches are being released every fortnight, an update is already overdue. It is expected that the popular live action game will lose its popularity this year, although the figures of download on different application stores for iOS and Android beg ti differ.

The "Pokemon GO" game is as strong as ever and as popular as it was last year, if not more. Nintendo has raked in an amazing profit of $115 million with this game and hence, is touted to be one of the most popular and lucrative games on Apple's App store. It helped the iOS App Store in generating almost $20 billion!
