Verizon has pushed back the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 in retail stores until July 12, according to an updated product page on the carrier's Web site. The device was earlier set for release July 10.

AT&T and Sprint already have the phone available, launching July 1 on both carriers. Pre-orders on Verizon are available from $199.99, with overnight delivery meaning orders placed will start shipping on July 11 and should arrive the same day the phone is in stock in retail stores.

Pre-orders for customers who previously pre-ordered seem to have arrived, though: users in the comments section of the International Business Times story claim the phone arrived as early as July 5, while Droid Life has received e-mails with similar reports.

"Galaxy S III customers will have access to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network which is available in 304 markets across the United States. Verizon Wireless 4G LTE will be in 400 markets covering 260 million people by the end of the year," Verizon said in a statement.

Samsung's Galaxy S3 has often been compared to other handsets such as the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Google's flagship Android device, with specifications such as the Snapdragon S4 processor in the U.S. version and the HD Super AMOLED display offering better performance and comparable resolutions respectively to the aforementioned devices.

There are also features such as Siri rival S Voice, while Samsung included interesting photo-capture features such as being able to capture 8 images quickly and choose the best picture.

There was a report the device had exploded, but the user was found to have lied and had in fact put the phone in a microwave. He claimed to have visited Carphone Warehouse looking for a replacement, which seems the only reason for putting the phone in a microwave and causing irreparable damage.

Along with AT&T and Sprint, T-Mobile launched the Galaxy S3 June 21 for the higher price of $249 while the in-store release date was June 27. U.S. Cellular and C-Spire are getting the phone soon, though no specific release date has been announced.

There's also the question of when Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will come to the device, which is available on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Samsung has traditionally been slow in bringing the latest version of Android OS to its devices.
