NewTrackon is a website that gathers and shows information about the current status of open public BitTorrent Trackers. The website continues what the abandoned Trackon project left and was developed by a college student named Miguel Angel.
In an interview with TorrentFreak, Miguel Angel stated that he viewed reviving, improving and putting the abandoned Trackon project online again would be a great idea especially since he already has some knowledge and skill to take on such project. He even stated that he was in communication with Uriel, the creator of the original Trackon project, during the development stage of newTrackon,
The newTrackon BitTorrent tracker gives users a list of torrent trackers with 95% or more uptime. With this, any user who wishes to make a torrent or add a working torrent tracker can fine one up for the task. The newTrackon BitTorrent is able to check outdated trackers with a random hash in 30-second intervals.
One of the key features of the newTrackon BitTorrent tracker is that it allows users or operators of public trackers to actually add their torrent trackers in the newTrackon site database. However, this does not mean that the newTrackon BitTorrent site will simply accept any and all tracker submitted on the site.
The newTrackon BitTorrent tracker is equipped with a program that also safeguard other users from users who abuse the site. When a user uploads a new torrent tracker on the site, a program will first check whether or not the added tracker is already on the list or originates from an IP that is already on its list. The program will then place the added tracker to the incoming list and will again check the added tracker along with other trackers submitted within that time span. The program takes about 15 seconds to check each tracker before it accepts or discards a tracker from the newTrackon BitTorrent tracker list.
