Niantic Labs' "Pokemon Go" continues to make history as it has recently been announced that it has topped numerous other titles in the list of 2016's most downloaded apps. "Super Mario Run" was also part of the top 10 apps downloaded on the App Store.
How "Pokemon Go" Did in 2016
According to IGN, Apple announced that "Pokemon Go" was the App Store's most downloaded app in 2016. While the title was only released in July, it has already made history by being the most downloaded app during its launch week.
However, BBC News and other outlets reported in August that just a month after "Pokemon Go" released, there was already an apparent decline in users. The game fell in the ranks when Niantic was releasing it in other areas around the globe including France, Latin America and most regions in Asia.
Despite the reports, "Pokemon Go" seems to have survived the drop-off as it is still the App Store's most downloaded application in 2016. Aside from the hit augmented reality game, "Super Mario Run" was also included in the top 10 as it has been downloaded more than 50 million times. It is worth noting that the game was only released in December but it has already established a name in the mobile gaming community.
Meanwhile, Game Spot says Nintendo is planning to unleash more mobile games in the coming years and these games will be based on "Fire Emblem" and "Animal Crossing" franchises.
