One of the best aspects of the beginning of 2017 is the comeback of "Sherlock" Season 4 on BBC One. The fans waited for almost 3 years before any respite was provided by the show producers. Episode one "The Six Thatchers" is already out and has received mixed criticism from the viewers. Are the readers wondering what is up and coming in "Sherlock" Season Four Episode Two "The Lying Detective"? This article may provide some insights without revealing the best parts of the upcoming adventures of the English detective. But before that, check out the official trailer released by the production house:

The episode synopsis has already been published and has made ample rounds on the internet. The shocking brief of the episode introduces the character "Culverton Smith":

Sherlock faces perhaps the most chilling enemy of his long career: the powerful and seemingly unassailable Culverton Smith - a man with a very dark secret indeed.

The character may take its genesis from the original story "The Dying Detective" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but it will have many shocking and chilling twists, too! The "Lying Detective" will officially air on January 8. It has been written by Steven Moffat and directed by Nick Hurrat.

It is worth being noted that Mark Gatiss (writer of the first episode) and Moffat had given out three episode teases in the San Diego Comic Con that included words: Thatcher, Smith, and Sherrinford. As affirmed by the "Sherlock" Season Four Episode 1 and Episode 2 trailer, the first two clues have been satisfied, leaving us with "Sherrinford". The name could be a reference to a relative of Sherlock and Mycroft, their oldest sibling.

The season finale titled "The Final Problem" will be aired on January 15 and will also be screened in major theatres all across U.S. Following the immense success of a similar strategy in the "linked" episode "The Abominable Bride", the third and final episode will be featured on the big screen. Are the fans excited about the fourth season of the immensely popular and highly rated series, which may be the last one?
