Among other shows that were cancelled or which came to an end in 2016, will BBC's hit show "Sherlock" join the list, too? Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the titular character of Sherlock Holmes, an English detective with an extraordinary art of deduction and reasoning, has dropped some really strong hints about the show's demise. He has possibly deployed the strongest hint of all that the "Sherlock" Season 4 may indeed be the last one, atlas for himself!
The famous actor, who is known for his voice and eccentric ways, turned 40 this year and specified that his priorities may have shifted after the birth of his son. He is said to have been enjoying "a golden moment" in his career currently. "This new series goes to a place where it will be hard to follow on immediately," said Cumberbatch, speaking ahead of the first episode of the season 4, which releases on January 1. "We never say never on the show, but in the immediate future we all have things we want to crack on with, and we've made something very complete as it its. So I think we'll just have to wait and see." The first episode has been titled "The Six Thatchers".
Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife welcomed their son, Christopher, in June. They are expecting a second child in the spring season. "The older I get, the happier I am. Yes, work is going well, which is nice, but I've also had a very rich couple of years personally", added Cumberbatch. "I'm grateful that I and my family have our health and that I'm still doing the work I love, so it's a golden moment. Of course, I now have extra responsibilities and I do have to make certain decisions about the future because there are more people in my life who are important to me".
Benedict definitely hopes that his own personal interactions with his own children are better than the ones envisaged between Sherlock and Rosamund Mary, the daughter of John Watson and Mary. Martin Freeman reprises his role as the insightful Dr. Watson. As far as his personal life is concerned, he recently separated with his partner Amanda Abbington, who also plays his wife Mary on the show.
Apart from this, Mark Gatiss, the co-creator of "Sherlock" has also revealed the extreme difficulty in getting a common schedule from all the actors of the show- leaving us in doubt about the show's future. "We would love to do more, but we are not lying, we absolutely don't know," Gatiss revealed to media. "It's up to all kinds of factors, scheduling. Willingness to do it is all all here, but we are just not sure." However, let us try and enjoy "Sherlock" with Holmes becoming "less of a dick" in this season with all his emotional sculpting.
