Many popular TV Series including "Game of Thrones" are known to leave fans hanging at the end of each season. However, "The Walking Dead" Mid-Season 7 finale has given the viewers some hint about what is to come when the season returns. If the show goes on as creator Robert Kirkman expects, we may get five more seasons after the current one. Will the 12 seasons be too much for fans? Only time will tell.

The first half of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 revolved around the re-establishment of Negan's Authority. The show's rating also got an obvious hit when fans saw Rick and Daryl in unexpected conditions. While show runner Scott Gimple, earlier made it clear that the Second half will be different from the first half, fans are expecting a lot of turn-arounds in this season's remaining episodes.

It's worth notable that the TV Series is much behind the comics currently. While the Season 7 midseason finale was covered in Comic Issue 111, the comic book is currently on Issue 162 and will be printed on January 4. The mid-finale ended with Spencer's death, and the comic readers already know what is about to happen next.

Back in 2016, Kirkman stated in one of the answers to his fans that it took them 6 seasons to get to episode 100. He also added that as the comic may get to a 200 issue, the fans may get to see 6 more seasons in the next six years. While going from issue 75 to issue 100 may be a concern for the producers, "the Walking Dead" usually doubles back on the comics from time to time.

"The Walking Dead" is about 50 issues behind the comic issue and fans can expect a lot to happen in these issues. Unlike the "Game of Thrones" situation where the TV show is way ahead of the novels, TWD fans won't have to worry about the end of the season. The question whether the TV series will survive for 12 seasons or not, however, still remains a big question.

Most of the TV shows lose interest from the fans as soon as they reach a two digit season and there are many popular TV series that prove this. Even the first half of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 got a slight dip in its ratings. This is a clear indication that no TV series last very long and something or the other usually takes its place. Still, "The Walking Dead" is at present among the most popular TV series on TV and AMC probably wishes to carry the series to Season 12 and beyond.
