Much to the delight of loyal Samsung Galaxy fans, the South Korean handset maker opted not to oust its ill-fated phablet line despite the Note 7 recall. Now, multiple reports are indicating that the imminent successor to the controversy-plagued smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will boast an array of jaw-dropping specs and features.

Citing the hype surrounding the Galaxy Note 8's arrival, it's hardly surprising that the device has been subject to a slew of speculations, leaks, and rumors. Here's a run through the new features that are most likely to on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Specs & Features

Dual Edge Display: The Galaxy Note 7 debuted a dual-edge curved display and the feature was later included in the Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S7 Edge, but not on Galaxy Note phablets. Moreover, the company's first curved display smartphone, the Galaxy Note Edge came with a single curve on its right side. Following the Note 7, Samsung is expected to retain this curve, aside from making the dual-edge display a standard feature on all upcoming flagships.

Iris Scanner: The Galaxy Note 7 was the South Korean handset maker's first smartphone to come with an iris scanner as an authentication option and biometric security. There's word that Samsung may opt to include the said feature on both its upcoming flagship devices i.e. Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 since avid Galaxy fans did not get an opportunity to use for long on the Note 7.

IP68 Water Resistance & S-Pen: The Galaxy Note line could never be water resistant thanks to its S-Pen stylus, which sits inside the device's chassis leaving an opening that can be affected by water easily. But fret not, Samsung has reportedly devised a way to seal the handset as well as the Galaxy Note 7 S-Pen and a result, the device will come rated at IP68 for water resistance. Apparently, the Galaxy Note 8 can be dunked in water up to five feet of water for 30 minutes.

Blue Coral Color Model: The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was first of the company's handset to sport a shimmery light blue color dubbed as Blue Coral. According to a report from iDigitalTimes, Samsung will go for the popular Blue Coral color option for the Note 8 as well.

Expandable Storage: Since its precursor, the Note 7 featured an expandable storage up to 256GB; there is a possibility that the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 too could boast the option. Following a trend set by some leading handset makers, Samsung is likely to support expandable storage up to a whopping 2TB for its future phones.

USB Type-C: The Note 7 was the first smartphone from Samsung to oust the Micro USB port in favor of a USB Type-C port. Bearing in mind that Samsung has released a new Gear VR headset, which supports both USB Type-C and Micro USB, Samsung will most probably continue to evolve its smartphones to USB Type-C.
