Once again a high-profile celebrity becomes the victim of another hacking crime. Hackers used Sony's official Twitter account to post hoax tweets about none other than the famous pop idol, Britney Spears. The tweets announced that the American singer had passed away which created a mayhem among her dedicated fans around the world. Sony Music Entertainment was fast to delete these hoax tweets which stated Britney Spears dead from their Twitter wall and had stated that it was not true at all.

Monday witnessed a flow of tweets by fans reading "RIP @britneyspears #RIPBritney 1981-2016." Other such tweets included statements like "Britney Spears is dead by accident! We will tell you more soon #RIPBritney."

But, Sony Music Entertainment later apologized for the tweets and told the world that its Twitter account had been hacked.

"Sony Music apologies to Britney Spears and her fans for any confusion," the company tweeted to the public.

Adam Leber, Spear's manager, stated that the singer was healthy and well. He added in his statement that some internet clowns have come up over the past few years who had done similar pranks in the past as well. He also added that it was the first time that such hoax tweets were done from Sony Music Entertainment's official account.

Additionally, the official account of Bob Dylan had been compromised on Monday. "Rest in peace @britneyspears," the tweet read. The tweets flowing from the handle also talked about the death of Spears and were being posted about the same time as the hoax tweets from the official Sony Music Entertainment.

In order to prove that Britney was alive and well, the singer posted a few pictures of herself in various Charlie's Angel poses on Twitter with the caption saying, "Don't underestimate the power of Charlie's."
