"Dragon Quest XI" finally have more available details now after Square Enix released screenshots of the game in Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 versions. Some of the information shared include the main characters, game setting and differences between the PS4 and 3DS gameplay.
Characters
First up, the main protagonist of "Dragon Quest XI" was revealed to be a 16-year-old lad who lives in the village of Ishi. During his coming-of-age ceremony, he discovered that he is actually a reincarnation of someone who saved the world in the past.
After learning that he was a hero, he also came to know that he has a major mission to fulfill, thus he left his hometown to face his fate. In times of trouble, the protagonist gains super powers which apparently coming from the birthmark on his left hand. It glows and brings out the great force from within him, Siliconera noted.
Emma was another character that was introduced by Square Enix. She is the protagonist's childhood friend and they share the same birth dates. The third character to be revealed was Camus. He became the protagonist's companion and sidekick after they met along the way when the hero embarked on his journey. Camus guides and supports the hero like a dutiful assistant.
Game Settings
"Dragon Quest XI" is set in the world of Lotozetasia, a massive tree called the "The Great Tree of Life." It stays afloat in the middle of the world and the protagonist seems to have an ability to communicate with its entity.
Certainly, there is also the village of Ishi, the region where the hero was born and raised. It is a serene place located at the corner of the valley.
PS4 & 3DS
The PS4 version of the game made use of technology to create a realistic environment for the gameplay. Sony succeeded in achieving the almost "real" look of the scenery while the 3DS version looks more like a classic game.
PlayStation Lifestyle reported that "Dragon Quest XI" is set to be released in Japan in 2017. Meanwhile, the game was also confirmed to come to Nintendo Switch soon.
