Rumors were making rounds in the Internet that Andy Rubin may be planning to leave Google. But the head of Google's Android unit has put an end to the rumors with his tweet that also includes latest update on Android activations.

Google announced their activation rate back in February, saying over 850,000 Android devices were activated per day. And now, Rubin announced on Twitter that the company is activating over 900,000 devices each day. He also denied the rumor of him leaving Google in his tweet. "No plans to leave Google. Oh, and just for meme completeness - there are over 900,000 Android devices activated each day :-)" Andy Rubin, head of Google's Android unit tweeted on Sunday.

The rumor was started by Robert Scoble when he mentioned Rubin is planning to leave Google to join a new startup, CloudCar. But Rubin rubbished his quitting rumors saying he had no plans to leave. Rubin joined Twitter in October 2010 and among his 11 tweets since joining, half of them revealed the information of Android devices activated each day.

Android fans must be happy to hear that Rubin's not quitting and Android is growing in strength every day. It was 850,000 back in February and now it's 900,000. If this growth is maintained, people might get to hear at the end of the year that the number surpassed 1 million, which would be really amazing.
