The recently released "Pokemon Sun and Moon" game versions received multiple reviews from various sites. Reports narrate new features that the games offer and provide comments regarding the big updates.
The Pokemon media franchise in general started two decades ago. The first batch of Pokemon games, Red and Green, were released on 1996. Following was the generation of Pokemon cards, and then manga, then the series which is still going on up to this day.
"Pokemon Sun and Moon" versions introduce the seventh generation of pocket monsters. Though the gameplay mechanics are still very much similar to the previous versions of the game, Sun and Moon were still able to provide some new features of the game.
One of which is the setting of the games, which is the Alola Region. It is different from the past settings simply because it is originally based on the place Hawaii. Aside from the newly introduced batch of Pokemon living in Alola, some Pokemon from past generations which can be seen in Alola got their own Alola forms.
Another interesting feature is the removal of gym leaders. Originally, and in previous games, players get to battle gym leaders and earn badges from them after winning. In Sun and Moon, they get to collect Z crystals instead, from Kahunas who most likely is the gym leader counterpart in Alola.
According to a review posted by Matt Reisine of Uinterview.com, the two versions produce a sense of originality. By not conforming to the concept of "gym leaders" which can be consistently seen from the previous versions, Sun and Moon can be considered as original from other Pokemon games.
It was also stated in the article that the decision to remove the HM usage in the game makes it more interesting. HM moves get to take away one slot in a Pokemon's move set permanently, unless its owner takes it to a move tutor or some sort. Also, Sun and Moon presented players the ability to scan QR codes of their pre-made team to register online.
Despite these good reviews pointed out, there were still some things observed that need further improvements. In an article written by Steven Bogos of Escapistmagazine.com, he hated how the storyline is so similar from the previous ones. When one already played some of the game versions before Sun and Moon, he will realize that the storyline of Sun and Moon is pretty much exactly the same.
Another thing is the sound the games produce. According to a report by Ollie Barder from Forbes.com, he hated how the sound the player makes when colliding with objects as he navigates through the world is irritating. While the idea of battling with four trainers at the same time is interesting, Battle Royal affects the game's engine negatively by dropping the framerate during a quadruple battle.
Beyond these setbacks of the games, "Pokemon Sun and Moon" still hold great potentials.
