Niantic recently released updates regarding the most talked about Pokemon Go Plus accessory. These updates followed after the company has revealed its overwhelming announcements on its upcoming Christmas event.

The most recent updates on Pokemon Go launched by Niantic include the newly added batch of Pokemon from the second generation. Also, Niantic posted a tweet stating that they are still working on Pokemon Go's availability on Apple Watch, invalidating what appears to be a speculative report by 9To5Mac.

With the big hit of the release of Pokemon Go comes the talk of the town, the recently launched Pokemon Go Plus. Its release date was supposed to be on July but was pushed back to September 2016. It is a different device whose main purpose is to make it easier and more convenient for the users to play Pokemon Go.

So what is with Pokemon Go Plus?

According to a report by Cinema Blend, the Pokemon Go Plus accessory assists players in looking for and capturing Pokemon, at the same time notifying them whenever there is a Pokestop nearby. It connects to mobiles via Bluetooth.

Players no longer have to always be on their phone whenever they play the game. If the device vibrates and the light flashes blue, it means the user is currently near or at a Pokestop. If it vibrates and the light flashes green/yellow, it means the user encountered a Pokemon. Clicking the button on the center will automatically throw a Pokeball at the encountered Pokemon. If the light flashes green afterwards, the Pokemon was captured. If it turned red, the capture failed.

What is its importance?

The true purpose of Pokemon Go was to promote physical activity to players since it requires them to go outside and travel. The thing with some Pokemon Go users is that they have the tendency not to pay attention to their surroundings whenever they play.

Ever since the Pokemon Go application was released, news of people getting involved in accidents caused by not paying attention circulated worldwide. The good side of Pokemon Go Plus is that it allows users to play while not entirely using their phone all the time.

The device costs $35. Despite the abovementioned benefits of it, there are still debates online regarding if it is worth the price or not.

Regarding the upcoming Christmas event, players are excited to experience a shower of gifts and bonus items from Niantic. It is also said that rare Pokemon will be given away for free.
