A lot of fans are now probably getting pretty excited for the sequel of the hit 2014 film "John Wick" that stars Keanu Reeves, dubbed as "John Wick: Chapter 2," which is set to come out in theaters on Feb. 10, 2017. Fortunately for the fans, it seems like the fun isn't going to end there just yet.
According to the report from Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, a new comic book for the surprising movie franchise is now underway. And it is going to be published by Dynamite Entertainment in partnership with Lionsgate.
"John Wick was such an exciting film, mixing martial arts action with snappy dialogue and smart writing," Dynamite Entertainment Chief Executive Officer, Nick Barrucci, told EW. "As the credits rolled, you were left wanting more, and it was obvious they had the makings of a franchise. We were quick to pursue the opportunity to develop a comic book series, and are thrilled to have been granted the rights to tell all-new stories with the character!"
The comic book series, as Barrucci noted, is not going to be a direct adaption from the film franchise. It will instead act as a platform to expand the universe of "John Wick."
Unfortunately, no further new about its release date has been dropped aside from the 2017 time frame. More updates about the "John Wick" comic book series, particularly its launch date and narrative, should emerge sometime next year.
Meanwhile, the official movie trailer for the much awaited sequel "John Wick: Chapter 2" has finally been released by Lionsgate that features the new addition to the cast: Laurence Fishburne.
Fishburne, on his interview with Collider a few months back, revealed some interesting aspects on what fans can expect for his character in "John Wick: Chapter 2" - without, of course, giving any specific details. His character, which is referred to as The Bowler King, will help expand the universe of "John Wick," saying that he is "not part of the Continental world" but of "another world that exists" within the franchise.
