Google Pixel is one of the best premium Android smartphone this year but despite being one of the best, the phone has several flaws like its dull design, camera and connectivity problems and some issues which are mostly related to software.
Recently, a Reddit user named Mark "badmark" Buckman posted that his Google Pixel XL devices and his wife's Google Pixel were having some static distortion problem. The device produced crackling and popping sounds when it is on its highest volume. Buckman also found out that not only them were facing the audio issue, after holding a poll on Strawpoll.me among Pixel users, 66 percent stated that they were experiencing the same issue. Mashable made a test on a OnePuls 3T and iPhone 7 but both phones did not have such audio distortions. Also, it was reported that the audio problem remained on Google Pixel even when updated from Android 7.1 to 7.1.1.
However, there is something you can do to remove the audio distortions you can hear from your Google Pixel. The issue can be removed by flashing custom ROMs after rooting you device. Here are the 3 simple steps from International Business Times on how to fix the Google Pixel's audio issues:
- Unlock the Bootloader by connecting your device to a computer and enabling Developer Options and USB debugging in the Settinggs. ADB and Fastboot on PC will be needed.
- Install the TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) recovery image.
- Flash the device with WETA Audio mod for Pixel (Universal) 9.1.
The International Business Times stated that these steps are only for those who are knowledgeable on rooting their devices. International Business Times cannot be held responsible for anything that goes wrong while rooting the device. Users should proceed at their own risk. It is best to wait for the official software update to fix the issues if you are not familiar with rooting.
