Many Samsung fans are now looking forward to the South Korean-based tech giant's next entry into its Galaxy line of the flagship, dubbed as Samsung Galaxy S8. Some might even presume that it will most likely top its current-generation model in terms of raw power.

Fortunately, it seems like the speculation for it might actually be true. According to the Dutch website Galaxy Club, the South Korean-based manufacturer has recently filed a trademark for what it's called as "Beast Mode," which is presumed to be added in future Samsung Galaxy handsets.

Judging by its name, it seems like "Beast Mode" might have something to do with boosting the future handset's performance - probably even more so than the high-performance settings in the current Android operating system.

If that turns out to be the case, however, the use for such an increase seems to be quite impractical, considering that majority of smartphone applications today don't actually require that much of processing power.

Could Samsung Galaxy S8 "Beast Mode" boost the power of the smartphone to give better performance for the Samsung GearVR headset?

One possible reason why the company would include such feature on the Samsung Galaxy S8 is probably for its Virtual Reality capabilities. Tech Radar reported that there have been rumors doing rounds online about a potential 4K VR graphics for the GearVR headset.

If this actually turns out to be accurate, then a "Beast Mode" performance boost may actually make sense. The required processing power for 4K VR would be quite drastic - probably even for the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Samsung Galaxy S8 might cost more than the current Galaxy S7

Meanwhile, previous reports have speculated that the market price for the next-generation smartphone might actually be higher compared to the current model. The reason being is that the cost of the raw materials needed to produce the handset will most likely increase by around 15-20 percent.

Samsung Galaxy S8 release date

No official word yet on the launch date but there are reports claiming that Samsung might actually unveil its Galaxy S8 sometime in April 2017 - as opposed to the previous claims of February 2017 at the Mobile World Congress.
