Nintendo Switch will be the first of its kind: a handheld console, which you can hook up to your television. It will also have detachable controllers, which you and your friends can use while playing co-op games on the go.
With these capabilities, does it mean Square Enix will be interested in developing Dragon Quest XI for the Nintendo Switch? Nintendo certainly thinks so. As reported on Gamenguide, Dragon Quest XI will be developed for the Nintendo Switch. The game was shown to be included on Square Enix's Jump Fiesta 2017 lineup. Although no official announcements were made yet, it was stated that it is already being planned.
Meanwhile, Prey, a first-person video game developed by Arkane Studios, will unlikely be on the Nintendo Switch according to the same report. Hybrid consoles usually run a weaker processing chip. If developers do decide to create "Prey" for the Nintendo Switch, its graphics will most likely be downgraded.
In other news, the Nintendo Switch will reportedly have lower specs and features as compared to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which might ultimately cause a hard time for the console to keep up with the current games. That being said, game developers appear to be reluctant in pushing their titles to Nintendo's new handheld console. However, Nintendo insiders such as Emily Rogers and Takashi Mochizuki stated that the leaked specs and features were not the ones inside the new Nintendo Switch.
There is still no official announcement from Nintendo yet on what specs and features their new console will have, but it is set to be revealed in January 2017. Perhaps, after confirming the Switch's specs and features, game developers should be able to port their popular franchises on it. Nintendo fans are also hoping that the Nintendo Switch can outshine PS4 and Xbox One next year. But with the rumored weaker processing chip inside it, things are not looking too good for them.
