LucasArts has revealed on the eve of E3 2012 its new title, Star Wars 1313. Though more details are going to be revealed between June 4-7, it has been confirmed players will control a bounty hunter and the game will take place on Coruscant.

The announcement was made on Spike TV, and was revealed to be an in-house action-adventure game. Players control a bounty hunter, not a Jedi or Sith, who has not been named, on Level 1313 - below the surface of Coruscant.

"Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy," LucasArts said.

The game is also a new series, suggesting the story of the bounty hunter won't be a one-off.

LucasArts also announced artists from Lucasfilm organizations - LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd and Skywalker Sound - are involved. The game is using the Unreal Engine, presumably the third version, and will feature "full-body performance capture."

The bounty hunter is aiming to uncover a conspiracy; the game will use fast-paced combat, with the character using gadgets and "human skills" rather than The Force. There will be cover-based mechanics, platforming and "playable cinematic gameplay." Is the latter quick time event-based?

"We're excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing. Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we've always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We're committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself," LucasArts president Paul Meegan said in a statement following the reveal.

LucasArts did not reveal a release date or supported platforms, but there's every chance the details will be confirmed at E3 2012 along with the protagonist's identity (Boba Fett or otherwise). The game's official Web site is also live.
