While some newer Motorola devices have already received an early Android Nougat (7.0) update, latest news of other devices getting the update are also surfacing around the Internet.
The fourth-generation of Moto G phones, namely the G4 series, is said to be getting the Android 7.0 update before December 25. The devices in this series consist of the Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play.
However, there are reports that a small number of Moto G4 and G4 Plus owners in India are already seeing a Nougat update on their phones, according to Android Police. The NPJ25.93-11 update notification for the G4 is confirmed to be a final build, and not just a beta build (or a 'soak test,' in Motorola's terms).
The update rollout also caused a bit of a confusion, as the Android Nougat release notes for the G4 and G4 Plus have been posted to Motorola's Indian website for several months, but no actual over-the-air update was seen.
Motorola seems to be rolling out the Nougat update in a very slow way, for certain regions. A very few number of users in Brazil are apparently getting the Android 7.0 update as well.
Meanwhile, the Moto X Play may skip the 7.0 update and go directly to the latest Android Nougat 7.1. The said device running the 7.1 update was spotted in GFXbench - and it highly suggests that the update will come to the said device in the next few weeks, or even days.
With this impressive development, Motorola is still one of the fastest companies to update their devices, with the Android Nougat update rolled out for the Motorola Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid last month, and a Moto Z update released a few days ago.
Other Motorola devices, namely the Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, and Droid Maxx 2 are also expected to have its own Nougat update soon, albeit with no official release dates just yet.
Stay tuned as more information about the Nougat updates for the Motorola devices become available.
