Recently been released, "Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun" features a stealth based RTS gameplay that makes you control up to five highly trained assassins to protect Japan. Each assassin boasts a different skill and play type which will make you think of strategies to silently kill your enemies.
Speaking of strategy, here's a guide by DTR Reviews to help us stealthily succeed in our missions.
Familiarize with your characters
Your team will be composed of highly trained assassins serving the shogun to fight the conspiracies threatening the peace of Japan. Your job as a player is to know each of their abilities and their weakness. Using the right combination of abilities of these assassins is the key to successful missions.
Live with mistakes
While the levels in this game might seem challenging, other players find it fair at the same time. So if you're having a hard time with a certain level, keep in mind that it is normal to make mistakes. Think calmly and try the mission with a different tactic. Remember, it's how you take advantage of the combination of abilities that will determine your success.
Stay undetected
Always keep in mind that "Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun" is a stealth based game. It is in your best interest as a player to keep your assassins hidden and strike only when it's necessary. Failed to strike your enemy? Don't worry, as long as you stay hidden (by hiding within the bushes, water, and houses) there will still be plenty of chances after that.
Remove traces
As an assassin it's an important habit to always keep the corpses of your victims away from the eyes of other people. This will be introduced early in the game and as you progress you need to get the hang of it. Failure to do so will result in your enemies being suspicious with their surroundings (making it hard for you to strike them stealthily), not to mention that they will also call for backup.
Use the environment / Mark objects
Always scan your environment for things or places you can interact your assassin with. Your mission's key to success might just be that wild bull waiting to trample your enemies.
Differentiate Civilians
There are two types of civilians, one is the harmless type which is represented by white viewpoint. And the other one which you should be careful of, which is represented by red viewpoint. Getting found by those civilian with white viewpoint won't do you any harm but the one with red viewpoint will call the enemies.
Time and Weather
Be familiar of how the time and weather works in game. Snow might be beneficial since it will leave you with ice-caves but walking on snow will leave footprints making ung stealth useless. At night, you can take advantage of the shadows since the viewpoints of your enemies are restricted. Just make sure to stay out of light sources to avoid being found unnecessarily.
"Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun" is currently available for Steam and for Playstation 4 and Xbox One soon.
