"Grey's Anatomy" has been running for 12 years now. During this time, its writers have not failed to keep their viewers entertained and enticed in the characters' stories. Recent spoilers reveal that on the next episode, Alex will be going to jail. Moreover, rumors are rife that showrunner Shonda Rhimes already has a spinoff series ready for Alex Karev's character.
Several media outlets shared that viewers' favorite Alex (Justin Chambers) may be undergoing some highly unwanted changes in his life. The lawsuit following his attack on Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) may give him a "go straight to jail" card. The tension and turmoil between the two led Alex into action and now he is going to pay for it.
His only escape from the secure prison cell is for Jo (Camilla Luddington) to testify in his defense. If she admits the abuse that she had undergone during her life with her husband, there are high chances, that Alex may get a lighter sentence. Even if he manages to evade prison, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) failed at protecting him before the hospital's board of directors and he has already lost his job.
Meanwhile, the latest rumor suggests that the award-winning producer might be planning another "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff based on the character of Justin Chambers, Alex Karev.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Shonda Rhimes said Shondaland, the TV entertainment production company she founded, has been considering a separate development of one of its series.
ABC Entertainment executive Channing Dungey unveiled in same interview that Karev was not originally written in the plot of "Grey's Anatomy."
"We were at the casting session for the Alex Karev role on "Grey's Anatomy" because the character hadn't been in the original pilot," Dungey said.
Now that it is given how Karev's character projected on "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, if a spinoff is possible, fans will surely hear for more from ABC network and Shonda Rhimes. For now, "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 returns on 19 January on ABC.
