A big new from jailbreak community - the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak with Absinthe 2.0 is coming this Friday. Earlier this week, the popular iOS hacker pod2g confirmed that he untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 is coming in few days. Now the jailbreak has received a release date and is expected to go live tomorrow.
As figured by iDownload blog, folks at HITBSecConf (Hack In The Box Security Conference) tweeted today that the live event of iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak with Absinthe 2.0 tool will take place this Friday. Hack In The Box is also offering special one-day passes to the "Jailbreak Live" event being hosted by Pod2g and his hacker team, at €699 (approximately $878) each.
Taking a look at the event's schedule, iDownloadBlog writes:
"Since Amsterdam is 6 hours ahead of EST, and each day of the conference appears to be between 09:00~ and 18:00~ hours local time, the earliest we would see a release is at 3AM EST on Friday, May 25th. ........ This means the Corona event will start at 5:30AM EST on Friday, May 25th, and the Absinthe event will follow shortly thereafter at 7:00 AM EST."
Released back in January this year, the previous release of Absinthe was a huge success with millions of downloads in just few days. Absinthe 1.0 is the only jailbreak tool that can successfully untether A5-powered iOS devices (iPhone 4S and iPad 2), but only if they are running iOS 5.0.1 or earlier. Now Absinthe 2.0 is the next tool to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 device untethered. It is also believed that it will be the only jailbreak tool for Apple's new iPad.
The jailbreak will be available for following devices:
- Phone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- original iPad
- iPad 2
- new iPad
- iPod (third and fourth generation)
Now you do not need to jailbreak your iOS device every time it reboots. Along with Absinthe 2.0, Dev Team's RedSn0w tool will also be updated with the new 5.1.1 jailbreak. So users will have a couple of options available for jailbreaking their iOS devices.
