After several months of teasing its users, Google has finally released its new Android version 7.0 Nougat last August 22.
Later, Motorola confirmed the update and announced that both the Moto Z and Moto Z Force would receive Android 7.0 Nougat beginning this week across the globe. Since they are saying "globally," that should mean the Moto Z DROID and Moto Z Force DROID in the US on Verizon, along with the unlocked Moto Z.
Still, many users haven't updated their smartphones as the software is not available for all. One of which is the Moto G4 model. Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus have also been left out.
It is reported that the Lenovo-owned company that confirmed in a blog post that it would release Android 7.0 Nougat update to Moto Z and Moto G (4th Gen) devices in the fourth quarter of this year. It seems that t will likely to be pushed for next year.
It gave the feeling that the smartphones would receive the new firmware at about the same time, but that was not to be.
Other Motorola phones that will receive the Nougat update are: Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid and Nexus 6.
However there is no information regarding Moto G3 and Moto E3. It seems they are likely to be dropped for Nougat 7.0 update.
According to Moto G3, "most of the Motorola's 2014 devices will not get the Android Nougat update." There are a lot of resons which also includes hardware limitation.
Next in line for the new firmware update could be the Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play. Still, the announcement remains to be seen.
