Windows Phone users who are yet to upgrade to Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango,) is being called upon by Microsoft to do so or face dire consequences. Failing to upgrade will soon put you in a position where you will be unable to download applications from the Marketplace, whether it be by phone or via the Web. It won't happen and we know no one wants that.
Version 7.5 of Windows Phone is more than just new features; the overall upgrade is also tied to improvements on the Marketplace portal. These improvements include better protection for Windows Phone developers and their applications from pirates. If you haven't figured it out already, it is easier to pirate applications using a previous version of Windows Phone, hence the reason why Microsoft wants you all to upgrade, and is willing to block access to the Marketplace if demands are not met.
Microsoft's Director of Program Management Mazhar Mohammed said:
"We're now doing the final work needed to turn on this new requirement, so I thought it would be a good time for another friendly reminder."
"The key takeaway is that if you like apps and games, you'll soon need Windows Phone 7.5 installed to continue using Marketplace. Most of you already do."
Not sure how to get Windows Phone 7.5 Mango on your beloved handset? No problem, we'll help you out with that.
To get the update, you must first get the Microsoft Zune software, install it and then proceed to connecting your smartphone to your computer. Check for updates and it should pop up in no time, along with instructions on how to go about getting the best version of Windows Phone on to your handset. You won't be disappointed with the vast amount of features Microsoft managed to force in. However, it's no better than Android and iOS.
New features include Twitter and Facebook chat integration. There's also LinkedIn for the professionals, back ground multitasking, speedier performance overall, custom ringtones, IE9 with HTML5 capability, visual voicemail and many more cool features.
Microsoft once said Windows Phone 7.5 has over 500 features and improvements, and it does feel like the company wasn't just pulling our leg.
Hopefully with Windows Phone 8, Microsoft and the likes of Nokia can get the success both companies require so much.
