After two months of hiatus, the latest episode of "Steven Universe" Season 4 entitled "Gem Harvest" is a double-episode special, and was premiered in Cartoon Network last November 17.

As previously presented in the release trailer, the episode starts with Steven visiting Peridot and Lapis' barn as they try to make vegetables come to life. However, the experiment looks like a failure as they aren't getting desirable results. Steven then licks a pumpkin seed and planted it.

The next day, they discovered a new addition to their family: a live pumpkin minion. However, because Steven was the one who planted the seed, the beast does not immediately take to them.

Steven then successfully made the pumpkin beast go to their owners, but suddenly a plane landed nearby, and an angry person starts shouting and questioning them.

It turns out that the person is a new character named Andy DeMayo, middle-aged airplane pilot and Greg Universe's brother. Greg then explained everything to him, including his son Steven, the gems, and the change from his former last name.

Surprised by the revelations, Andy screams at Greg with a rather awkward statement: "You turned your back on your family name just so you could get in with a bunch of weirdo hippie, Martian immigrants. Get the heck of my planet, outta' my country, and outta' my barn."

With things starting to look bad, the gems then decided to put a party for the newcomer. They prepared vegetables, some turkey and bread, a wedding cake, and jokingly, a tomb for him.

As dinner approaches, Andy sliced a cake first but realized, "Where are my manners?" and passed the slice to Steven; Steven and the gems did the same and ultimately went back to Andy.

Shortly after, everyone except Andy are making themselves comfortable by making jokes and thanking each of them for their hard work. Realizing that he doesn't fit on the life Greg and his family have built, Andy decides to leave because of anger and disappointment.

A worried Steven, with the help of Lapis' flying ability, chased Andy's plane. Jumping on the plane's wings, he told Andy that he liked Andy and the time spent with him. He also said that he loves the gems, but he's also human, and he's happy that he met one of his relatives.

The plane suddenly became unstable and Steven falls, but Andy gets control of the plane and saves him. The scene ends with Steven, Greg and Andy reuniting as the gems setup the dinner table once again.

Overall, "Gem Harvest" is an episode which tells fans about the characters' efforts to accommodate once-distant relatives, and may also relate to some of the political issues that are occurring as of this time.

The episode also portrays the things a family can do as a representation of love to each other; a perfect timing for the upcoming Thanksgiving.
