"The Originals" season 4 will be back on The CW on March 17, 2017 at 8/7c, occupying the time slot vacated by "The Vampire Diaries." Although TVD is set to end by March 10, reports suggested that it will not be the last time that viewers will see their favorite characters from the series because a crossover is definitely happening.

The latest spoilers reveal that Alaric Saltzman from "The Vampire Diaries" will be on "The Originals."

Back in June, The CW announced that the show wouldn't return in the 2016 fall schedule. While it was highly anticipated by its following, there were only so many shows that could be fit into the 10 hours of primetime television a week. "The Originals" Season 4, while being confirmed for renewal, didn't make the cut.

Fans have waited for a January 2017 start date, however, the rumors for this release date is confirmed to be false. The CW is definitely airing the new season of "The Originals" after "The Vampire Dairies" series finale.

In addition, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that will premiere on March 17, 2017. It will still get the Friday night slot but will move to 8 p.m. rather than 9 p.m., which it had throughout Season 3. This will take the place of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, which has a confirmed finale date of March 10, 2017.

Moreover, TV Line reported that Matt Davis ,who plays the role of Alaric on TVD, will be on the eighth episode of "The Originals" season 4. In episode 8, Alaric will look for Elijah because he needs to deliver a priceless artifact. There is no mention of any other plot for the episode. So far, this is the biggest piece of information that has been revealed about the fourth season of TVD's spinoff.

"The Originals" season 4 will debut on The CW on Friday, March 17.
