The scout class in "Battlefield 1" is essential on every squad. It takes advantage of the terrain and location to snipe out enemies. But being a scout is no walk in the park, so here's a guide by Jeremy Signor to help you become an effective scout.

Know the map

As a scout you've got to have a full knowledge of the map, where the enemies will come from and where you'll be less seen is crucial for your role. As Jeremy suggests, higher ground is always better for Scouts, though there are some exceptions as some control points are entrenched, giving you a hard time to snipe enemies.

Be covert

We can't stress this further but being covert is what a scout is all about. Don't move around too much, because doing so might give the enemies an idea of where you are hiding. Note that your scope reflects light and moving around is like yelling "I'M HERE!!" at the enemy.

If you must move, then do so without aiming as this will mess up your accuracy. Practice holding your breath, this will improve your accuracy a lot. Remember that once you miss, there might not be another chance like that and the chances of enemies immediately attacking you as a reprisal are high.

Plan your escape route

When trying to find an effective position, always make sure that you have a way to get out of there immediately. Always assume that anytime, an enemy will try to go straight to your position and melee the hell out of you and having no escape plans will leave you trapped.

Switching to sidearms

Having to carry a sniper rifle means you can't use it while moving, and this is where sidearms come in. As Jeremy suggests, having a pistol to switch with gives you an opportunity to fight back enemy encounters while moving. This will also help you in case an enemy did go to your position and try to have a close combat.

Communicate with your squad

Having a scout that communicates effectively with his squad is definitely a big advantage. Don't hold back on using your mic in communicating. Not only this will gain you a lot of friends, it will also help you as a scout in the long run.

With these tips, you're sure to be a fine scout in no time at all. Stay tuned for more guides on "Battlefield 1."
