"Vikings" Season 5 is just around the corner as it will hit the screen very soon after the return of Season 4 in the end of November 2016.
However, there were speculations that the official air date of the upcoming season might be delayed due to the postponement of the finale episode of the current season. It has been rumored that the "Vikings" Season 5 will premiere on September 2017.
Meanwhile, spoilers of the "Vikings" Season 5 are swirling on the web and they hinted that Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) will return to the Kattegat world and will meet his fortune at the hands of King Aelle.
Speculations suggested that Ivar Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) would be chosen by his father to sit on the throne and rule the kingdom.
Ivar is said to be a tough contender to the throne though he has pathological issues mainly because he has been constant in proving his skills and he has been considered as one of the "wisest men" alive.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator, Michael Hirst said that avid fans should look forward for Ivar and Ragnar for they will have "some great scenes." He added that "Ivar is really is someone who's going to take the show forward."
Moreover, the historical drama has at all times been in relation to Ragnar and his brother Rollo (Clive Stande) and Hirst hinted that it will carry on during the "Vikings" Season 5.
"It was always going to be between [Ragnar and Rollo]. But who knew that Rollo would look strong and fit and be really supercharged, and would motivate his people? Ragnar's not motivating the Vikings, and I think there's a slightly suicidal sense about going into battle in that way," Hirst said. "He wanted to get into a personal battle with Rollo, and I think he would have been happy if they both died. That's my feeling, that that would have been a good ending for him."
It is expected that Astrid (Josefin Asplund), Lagertha's love will have her appearance on the Season 5. The former character is said to be the product of research made by Dr. Peter Frankopan, and Oxford University historian.
It looks like Lagertha was enough with all the sufferings she has from men, so she decided to have a romantic relationship with a fellow woman.
Many believed that Lagertha will not be able to join the Season 5 since she has been wounded on the chest in the current season. However, the series creator declared that Lagertha will not end in such way as she has "become the kind of soul of the show."
"Vikings" Season 5 is said to have 20 episodes, but History Channel is yet to announce its official release.
