It looks like fans would still need to wait further for the much anticipated remaster of Square Enix's "Final Fantasy 7."

Making an appearance in the recent Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, "Final Fantasy" brand manager Shinji Hashimoto briefly discussed future plans for some of their biggest titles, "Final Fantasy 7" Remake included.

Speaking about "Final Fantasy 7" remake's possible 2017 release date circulating online, Hashimoto said that it is "just a rumor," and that the company still has no release date window for the highly anticipated return of Cloud Strife and his gang, Siliconera reported.

The brand manager said, however, that the team is working hard on the title, and asked dedicated "Final Fantasy 7" fans to be more patient and wait for a bit longer.

Hashimoto also said that the company is planning on making a third installment to one of its most popular "Final Fantasy" games, "Final Fantasy X," due to the success of the release of "Final Fantasy X/X-2" HD remaster.

However, Hashimoto said that "Final Fantasy X" producer Yoshinori Kitase and character designer Tetsuya Nomura are both busy with "Final Fantasy 7" remake and another highly anticipated video game "Kingdom Hearts 3," Attack of the Fanboy reported.

So while "Final Fantasy X-3" is definitely in the cards, fans should not hold their breath for a release date for this anytime soon.

Speaking of "Kingdom Hearts," the brand manager confirmed that there will be no "Kingdom Hearts 2.9," and fans should now expect "Kingdom Hearts 3" to arrive after "Kingdom Hearts 2.8".

Hashimoto also talked about another upcoming "Final Fantasy" remaster, "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age."

Hashimoto said that while the publisher still has no set release date for the upcoming "Final Fantasy XII" PS4 remaster, the company is aiming to get the game out as soon as possible as it is already its tenth anniversary.
