The latest NBA rumors hinted that the Los Angeles Clippers and the San Antonio Spurs might enter a deal before the trade deadline. Reports touted that the rumored deal might involve the exchange of the Clippers' power forward Blake Griffin with the Spurs' power forward Pau Gasol.

Jobs N Hire reported that the Los Angeles Clippers might trade Griffin soon as he is expected to be an unrestricted free agent in 2018. The 27-year-old player also reportedly has an option of terminating his contract with the Clippers early in the 2017-2018 NBA season. If he exercises his option then, the Los Angeles Clippers might lose him for nothing and will be left with a dwindling frontcourt.

As a result, few reports claimed that the Clippers will trade him to the San Antonio Spurs team in order to receive a talented player like Gasol. Adding the 36-year-old veteran player in expected to provide the Clippers with added depth in the frontcourt with excellent defensive and offensive skills, which will help them to provide a tough competition to other teams in the NBA league.

On the other hand, the San Antonio Spurs will also benefit from the trade, as trading Gasol will provide them with an opportunity to bring in a player who can complement power forward LaMarcus Aldridge's skills, where Gasol is lacking, reported Todays Fastbreak. Rumors hinted that Griffin will provide the team with excellent defensive skills, which will help them to put up high scores on the board.

It is expected that bringing Griffin onto their roster will help the Spurs to form a super frontcourt lineup comprising of Aldridge, and small forward Kawhi Leonard. However, there is no official word on the rumored trade scenario from either of the teams. So, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt as of now.
