Since majority of phones run Android OS, Google Android updates excite almost all smartphone users. Since a handful of smartphone companies feature their tweaked version of Android OS like Oxygen OS in case of One Plus Inc, we see little delay in the rolling out of new updates.
The current update of Android OS in the market is 7.0 Android Nougat, which is currently found in all latest Google Phones and some recent launches.
OnePlus was quick this time in launching the beta testing version of Android Nougat, which is doing rounds among fans since August this year. Several benchmark websites have started posting details for beta testing on One Plus devices.
One such result is from Geekbench, which has released performance result of the One Plus family of smartphones upon installation of Android Nougat 7.0 & 7.1. As per the Geekbench results, the OnePlus One scored 976 with Single-core and 2521 with Multi-core when tested with Android Nougat 7.0. OnePlus 2 scored 1168 with Single-core and 2694 with Multi-core when booted with Android Nougat 7.0 version. OnePlus 2 also tested with Nougat 7.1 and it has scored 715 with Single-core, whereas it has scored 2922 with Multi-core.
When it comes to its latest flagship model OnePlus 3, it performed the best with Nougat 7.1 version with scores of 1747 with Single-core and 4007 with Multi-core.
It is also hinted by One Plus that only phones less than two years old will get Nougat 7.1.
Also, only One Plus 3 will get Android Nougat 7.1 while earlier models will get only Android 7.0.
However, OnePlus X and One Plus One may get tweaked accommodation of Android Nougat. Also, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset in OnePlus One is incompatible with Vulcan API required for Nougat.
It is likely that the updates will be rolled out in December this year. Stay tuned for updates on the OnePlus family.
