According to the latest reports, Agoura Hills, California-based game developing and publishing company THQ has announced that they have set a date for the release of the upcoming and highly anticipated title, “Darksiders 2.” THQ CEO Brian Farrell said that the game will be launching on August 26, 2012.
THQ previously announced that the company will be delaying the release of “South Park: The Game” until 2013 and “Devil’s Third” could be sold off. Moreover, the company has lost hundreds of millions of dollars this year. So the announcement date of the new game comes as a relief for both the fans and the company itself.
Farrell has also mentioned that “Darksiders 2” has, so far, been pre-ordered five times more than the original Darksiders, according to a Gamesradar report.
“Darksiders 2” will take place in the same time period as the first game. Players will now take control of the Horseman Death, instead of his brother War and the game will take place across an entirely new collection of maps, which have been confirmed to be double in cumulative size to that of its predecessor.
The game will also feature the remaining two horsemen (Strife and Fury) and will take Death across multiple dungeons and city hubs. Loot will also be included, dropping from encounters as rewards ranging from 12 different armor piece categories, which can have different enchantments and may power up Death's Wrath Powers.
“Darksiders 2” starts after War is convicted and sent back to Earth by the Charred Council, they inform the other three Horseman of his fate. The Horseman Death knows that his brother War is the most honorable and incorruptible of the four and would never have started the Apocalypse early. Believing his brother is victim of a conspiracy, Death defies the Council's orders and sets out on a personal mission to find proof of his brother's innocence. Death travels to the Nether Realms, a place between Heaven and Hell, to call in favors from powerful beings that rule the realm.
