Here we have the four big branded VR headsets: the Sony Play Station VR, the HTC Vive, the Oculus VR, and the Samsung Gear VR. Let us do a quick VR comparison to see which one provides the best gaming experience.

In terms of setup, the Gear VR stands out at the top with no cables attached. You just need a smartphone and an Oculus app to start the VR experience. However, the PSVR is easier to set up due to the PS4 crutch. The HTC model is little tough to set up, while the Oculus VR is the most complex one.

In terms of price, the most affordable VR is the Gear variant at $99 with limitation in experience. However, the PSVR comes at $499 plus extras for controllers. Gamers can use the PS4 Dualshock controller, but for a fuller experience, extra VR controllers are required.

The priciest one is the HTC Vive at $799 which also needs a gaming laptop to set up. There are tracking boxes, tripods, and lots of cables attached to it.

The Oculus VR is a reasonable option than Vive at $600, but playing with it can shed you a lot of extra dollars. It requires a gaming laptop with at least Nvidia GTX 960 or AMD RX480 with a spare HDMI port. It also requires USB 3.0.

There arise syncing problems for the controllers in Vive but Oculus works fine every time you switch it on. It is also more stable than Vive.

As much room is required when gaming, Sony recommends an area of 9.8 ft. deep by 6.2 ft. wide. While Vive is created for room scale games, you will be limited with the number of games with less space in your room.

While Gear VR is the only headset compatible with smartphones, PSVR runs with PS4 and Oculus VR and Vive requires a laptop.

Since the Gear VR is the most affordable option, it has limitations like no 3D motion tracking. It uses sensors of smartphones, camera, accelerometer and gyroscope to help you move around in a 3D environment.

To sum it up, the PSVR is the most affordable for gamers having PS4; the Gear VR is the most affordable one if you just want to enjoy a visual dislay of games. For the avid PC gamers who can shred a lot of money for a full VR experience, the Oculus and Vive are the best choices.
