Since the iPhone's 10th Anniversary is bound for 2017, many are expecting that the iPhone 8 will turn into something completely different.

We have seen a decade of improvements in the Apple smartphone series since the first iPhone was launched. From touch screen to smart sensors, like finger print and iris scanner, we have seen a sea of advanced changes in the mobile market. The device has come a lot far from being a cellular phone to a personal companion that has become a medium to cater almost our every need.

In line with this, Apple might be holding back some major updates and improvements for the iPhone 8 on its 10th anniversary.

There are rumors saying that the new iPhone would simply be called iPhone Pro. A new patent filed by Apple hints that the iPhone 8 could feature an edge to edge display.

Meanwhile, there are rumors saying that the iPhone 8 will finally add wireless charging, which would be a first for Apple phones.

Another rumor suggests that Apple is planning major changes in the upcoming iPhone that could include an edge-to-edge organic light-emitting diode, or OLED, screen and eliminating the home button by building the fingerprint sensor into the display.

Also, this years iPhone lacked a major design change in keeping with Apple's usual two-year cycle.

A recent buzz in the Internet tells that in 2017, there would be three new iPhone models, including a regular 4.7 in. variant, a 5.5 in model, plus a third new "Pro" design with a 5.5 in or above curved screen.

It's a bit early to talk about the iPhone 8 release date, but it is likely that the upcoming phone will be out in September, 2017. Still, anything can happen on the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.

Can we expect a major announcement on June 29, 2017, exactly 10 years after the release of first iPhone? Stay tuned for more updates.
