Samsung was put on the hall of shame for the problematic Galaxy Note 7, making them recall and cancel the product altogether. However, numerous reports regarding Apple's iPhone 7 going to a similar route have started spreading like wildfire.
Business Insider reported last week that Apple is already investigating the increasing cases of handset catching fire. The most recent incident took place last week with the owner, Matt Jones, got his pant's pocket burst in flames inside his car, while he was away surfing.
This image shows what's left of the iPhone 7 and how the damage was bad inside the car's interior.
Reports say that the man never used any third party charger, dropped the phone on a hard surface or caused any potential damage with the iPhone 7, but it still exploded. The car's interior got filled with smoke and had its interior wrecked.
According to Australia's Yahoo News 7 report, the local authorities are working to investigate the cause of the incident and as of the time of writing, the cause hasn't been identified yet. Apple wouldn't provide any comments, but stated that they are aware of what have happened and will be making their own investigation as well.
This was one of the already increasing cases of such incident that the product database for SaferProducts.gov already got multiple cases of customers getting their iPhones charred. Still, most of the cases are based from charging the new iPhone 7 with the older charger from the previous model.
This is strikingly similar with what happened with Samsung, that the company needed to ask consumers and owners of the Note 7 to turn off their phones and return it for a refund or a replacement. The cases kept happening despite Samsung revising the batteries for the Galaxy Note 7.
There's no telling yet if all these reported cases of the iPhone 7 catching fire are mere coincidences, but be sure to stay tuned as we follow the updates on this one.
