The long awaited HTC One X finally went on sale at AT&T on Sunday for $199 on a two year contract, and from what we can tell; it is the best Android smartphone available on the market. The HTC flagship device is rocking a beautifully designed body and a 4.7-inch Super LCD2 display that is no doubt the best display on any smartphone to date. Along with its super fast 1.5GHz dual core CPU and LTE (Euro version has quad core), the force is definitely strong with this one.

Apart from the above specifications, the device also features an 8-megapixel camera that takes stunning photos, a feat rarely accomplished by a HTC smartphone. The only other HTC smartphone we know of that takes beautiful photos is the HTC Titan 2 Windows Phone based handset. Design wise, the One X steals from the high end Nokia Lumia devices with its polycarbonate plastic body.

On the front lies a 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls. We go back inside and there sitting idly is 1GB worth of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The main rival to the HTC One X will be the Samsung Galaxy S3, which was recently announced, and is expected to be available in Europe on May 29, and in the US sometime in June. Both the One X and the Galaxy S3 have their pros and cons. However, the Galaxy S3 is the latest in Samsung's popular line of Android smartphones which has achieved sales far greater than what every other Android manufacturer could muster and because of this popularity, the HTC One X could find itself in hot lava.

Specs wise, the Galaxy S3 stands tall with a massive 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display, 8-megapixel camera, 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, 16-64GB of internal storage, 4G LTE, 1.4GHz quad core Exynos CPU, and a plastic design that is "inspired by nature."

The hardware specs is not the most compelling things about the Galaxy S3. However, it all has to do with the underling software. Things like S-Voice, Smart Stay, Pop up Play, S-Beam and the vast amount of camera features are the things that set it apart from the drones.

The One X is no doubt a powerful smartphone that is able to go neck-to-neck with the Samsung Galaxy S3, but whether or not the handset can survive the Galaxy S3 wave, remains to be seen. HTC has the advantage of being first out of the gates. Now all HTC needs to do is market the One X properly and effectively if it wants the device to stand any chance against Samsung 4.8-inch beast.

Question: Are you planning to get your sweaty little hands on a HTC One X, or will you guys hold out for the Samsung Galaxy S3? Fire away.
