"Diablo" fans were thrown in a frenzy as former director posted something about "Diablo" on social media site Twitter.

A lot of speculations have been circulating about a surprise "Diablo 4" reveal at this year's Blizzcon, and a tweet from former Blizzard employee and "Diablo" creator David Brevik has pushed the rumor mill into overdrive this week.

Accompanying an image of the Libra constellation, Brevik wrote this caption on Twitter: For 20 years, Diablo-like games have evolved & surprised us. I'm proud to be the adviser for the game that pushes this genre to new heights."

Brevik has left Blizzard in 2003, and has also recenlty left Gazillion Entertainment in January to move on to "other opportunities," according to Gameinformer. Fans are now speculating that Brevik is back with Blizzard and is creating a new "Diablo" title because of the tweet in question.

The "Diablo" creator quickly dashed fans' hope in another tweet, however, where he denied that he is working with Blizzard again.

"There has been a lot of speculation (and hope)," Brevik posted on the social media site, "but I'm not working on the 'Diablo' franchise currently or in the near future."

It turns out that Brevik is not referring to "Diablo" on his post, but another online Action RPG, "Path of Exile." Brevik will be serving as advisor to the Chinese Launch of the game, along with developer Grinding Gear Games and Chinese company Tencent, according to "Path of Exile" lead developer Chris Wilson.

Despite the false alarm, fans are still hoping for a grand "Diablo" news reveal at Blizzcon this year, and rumor has it that it may be either a "Diablo 2 HD" remake or, even better, "Diablo 4."

Whether it is a completely new title like "Diablo 4" or an HD remake of "Diablo 2," fans are sure to get exciting "Diablo" news soon. Meanwhile, all speculations must be taken with a grain of salt. BlizzCon 2016 will be happening on Nov. 4 and 5.
