With the NBA training camps around the corner, the latest trade rumors suggested that the Toronto Raptors are reportedly trying to revamp their roster and gear up for the new season, with a possible deal with the Sacramento Kings for their power forward DeMarcus Cousins.
Asia Starz reported that the Raptors have been pursuing the Kings' 26-year-old player since last summer. Rumor has it that in order to lure the Sacramento Kings in trading Cousins, the Raptors might give away their center Jonas Valanciunas, point guard Cory Joseph, and shooting guard Norman Powell. However, reports also stated that the trade might happen in the next NBA season.
Should the trade rumors turn out to be true, it is reported that Cousins will prove as the perfect fit for the Raptors as he will provide them with excellent defensive and offensive skills, stated ChattSportsNet. Furthermore, the trade rumors suggested that adding Cousins will help the Raptors to provide a tough competition to other teams in the Eastern Conference like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.
On the other hand, it is rumored that even the Sacramento Kings are willing to trade their power forward because of his attitude and behavioral issues with the team's management. However, ESPN stated that the Kings might not trade Cousins this season despite the prevalent issues. It is reported that trading him will deprive them of the only big name they have on their roster. Also, Cousins' excellent performance in the recent Rio Olympics is stated to have altered the idea of trading him.
Meanwhile, the other teams who are reportedly interested in trading Cousins are the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Boston Celtics.
However, there is no official confirmation from either of the teams mentioned regarding the possible Cousins trade scenario. Keep posted here for NBA trade rumors and updates.
