Bioware is definitely going to continue with its popular action RPG franchise "Dragon Age," much to the delight of fans of the series.
"Dragon Age" is one of Bioware's most successful franchise. Its last title "Dragon Age: Inquisition" has garnered multiple Game of The Year accolades from various gaming publications. With the series' success, it comes as no surprise that fans are asking for more.
Bioware is well aware of the demand for a new "Dragon Age" title, and it looks like the developer is already preparing for the sequel.
"Dragon Age" In The Works?
The developer has recently signed on "Sunless Sea" lead writer Alexis Kennedy for an unannounced project. The writer, who has also penned "Dragon Age" spin-off "The Last Court," will be working closely with "Dragon Age" veterans Mike Laidlaw and Patrick Weekes, Eurogamer reported.
Eurogamer has also noted that with "Mass Effect: Andromeda" entering its final production stages, and with both Laidlaw and Weekes not working on Bioware's secret new IP, there is a huge possibility that Kennedy was taken onboard for a "Dragon Age" related project.
So when is the next "Dragon Age" coming out?
Based on Bioware's history, a "Dragon Age" game usually drops after the last DLC of the "Mass Effect" game before it. The only exception is when Bioware released "Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening" before "Mass Effect 2" finished its run.
With this said, it is more likely that there won't be another "Dragon Age" title until all content for "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is released, and based on the pattern, the next "Dragon Age" may possibly arrive sometime in 2018. This however does not take in consideration Bioware's other IP.
What would the next "Dragon Age" be about?
"Dragon Age: Inquisition"'s final single-player DLC "Trespasser" has given a huge hint on what to expect in the next installment of "Dragon Age." Solas will definitely be featured prominently in the next title, and the setting will most likely be in Tevinter Imperium, which is also Dorian's hometown.
Stay tuned for more "Dragon Age" news.
