"Train to Busan" has received generally positive reviews from all over the world with $99 million gross worldwide as of September 15. With audiences being hyped with the zombie apocalypse thriller movie, a sequel is indeed much expected.
The lead star, Gong Yoo, recently revealed the details of the upcoming sequel.
To recall, the actor expressed his interest to appear in the upcoming sequel and even made a discussion with the "Train to Busan" director. However, the director might have something else in mind.
"I told director Yeon Sang Ho that my character Suk Woo is probably living somewhere as a zombie," Gong Yoo revealed. "But then the director told me that Suk Woo already died by breaking his neck when he jumped off the train.
However, Gong Yoo left another spark of hope for "Train to Busan 2," saying that the sequel could be about a zombie's perspective.
"So then I recommended that the sequel is made from Ma Dong Seok's point of view since Ma Dong Seok's character is alive as a zombie," the actor said.
While it has not been officially confirmed who will be the cast for the "Train to Busan" 2, one report noted that the "Descendants of the Sun" actor, Song Joong Ki might be one of the cast of the zombie apocalypse movie.
It has been speculated that actor Ma Dong Seok approached the producers of the movie for the sequel and will be reprising his role alongside Song Joong Ki. They were reported to be playing as zombies for the next installment of the hit zombie apocalypse movie.
However, there were no confirmation to the cast and appearances yet in the "Train to Busan 2." Stay tune for the official word on its release date.
